  • Rebirth of the baroque violin

  • Description of the working life of my friend and collega Fred Lindeman. Since 1965 he studied the not-modernized instruments, and put baroque-stile bridges, fingerboards and necks on the modernized ones. This was initially asked to him by early music pioneers like the Kuijken Brothers, the Orchestra of the Eighteenth century and Lucy van Dael, but later also institutions like the Metropolitan museum in New York, for whom Fred restored a Stradivarius. He worked and studied with stringscholars like Dlugolecki and Mimmo Peruffi from Aquila. A fascinating look behind the curtains of a maker with a modest attitude, who helped establish a musical performance culture that spread worldwide.
